Recently announced at MWC Barcelona, developers can now stream augmented reality (AR) experiences built with NVIDIA Omniverse to the Apple iPad. Omniverse, a platform for real-time collaboration and simulation, enables developers to create and stream detailed datasets with high visual quality. Built on Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD), Omniverse enables seamless compatibility across 3D tools and applications.
Powered by NVIDIA RTX GPUs and the NVIDIA Graphics Delivery Network (GDN), streaming AR experiences to the iPad with Omniverse ensures high-fidelity rendering of complex datasets while maintaining performance, responsiveness, and scalability.
AR for development and deployment
AR streamlines workflows by enabling real-time visualization, collaboration, and iteration on complex 3D models. By replacing physical prototypes with digital twins, teams can accelerate innovation while reducing costs and environmental impact. Spatial computing, which enhances AR by merging digital data with the physical world in real time, enables teams in automotive design, factory planning, and logistics to collaborate with AR to enhance efficiency and precision.
Key benefits for XR developers
Using Omniverse, you can experience responsive interactions through cloud-based rendering. This technology also broadens accessibility, enabling high-quality AR experiences across devices and teams, while supporting sustainable innovation by minimizing material waste and production costs through virtual prototyping.
With the ability to stream OpenUSD digital twins to Apple iPads, teams are able to conduct real-time, AR remote collaboration for industrial scale digital twins enabling new possibilities of interacting with a dataset. As recently announced, KION Group is collaborating with Accenture to be the first to adopt Mega, in order to optimize operations in retail, consumer packaged goods, parcel services, and more. Interacting with this content in AR enhances productivity, safety, and efficiency by enabling real-time adaptability, reducing costs, and minimizing risks in dynamic warehouse environments.
As a developer, you can now leverage the same streaming framework that uses the Swift programming language to build hybrid streaming applications for both the Apple Vision Pro and the iPad. This streamlines development and expands on the Spatial Streaming for Omniverse Digital Twins Workflow, enabling customers and partners to experience their USD datasets immersively.
