NVIDIA cloud gaming service GeForce NOW is providing developers and publishers with new tools to bring their games to more gamers—and offer new experiences only possible through the cloud. These tools lower local GPU requirements to expand reach and eliminate cost by offloading AI inference tasks to the cloud.
At the Gamer Developer’s Conference (GDC) 2025, NVIDIA demonstrated hybrid AI gaming with locally rendered graphics and zero-cost-to-the-developer AI inference handled in the cloud. This makes games with AI features accessible to a larger audience. In addition, NVIDIA and Ubisoft recently collaborated on the Assassin’s Creed Shadows review campaign, giving press a seamless and consistent game review experience in a secure and controlled environment.
Expand your audience with seamless AI feature integration
GeForce NOW streams from GeForce RTX-class servers in the cloud across devices, including low-powered laptops, Valve’s Steam Deck handheld, Macs, Samsung Smart TVs, and more. The top-tier Ultimate membership streams from a GeForce RTX 4080-powered rig in the cloud for up to 4K and 120 frames per second (FPS), or 1080p and 240 FPS. Ultimate members get access to all the same benefits as GeForce RTX 4080 GPU owners, including NVIDIA DLSS 4 and NVIDIA Reflex technology, for the highest frame rates and lowest latency.
Significant local GPU power is often needed to integrate AI features into the latest games. As a developer, you can instead leverage the existing GeForce NOW infrastructure to offload cloud-based AI inference for your games without incurring local inferring costs. This approach enables you to onboard your AI functions onto NVIDIA Cloud Functions (NVCF) and integrate them seamlessly into your games with minimal effort to reduce the minimum GPU requirements needed on the user’s end.
This expands your audience to a wider range of gamers and helps ensure access to AI-enhanced features without needing additional hardware or memberships. GeForce NOW also uses an extensive network of over 100 countries and more than 35 data centers. This cloud-based solution supports a range of GPUs, including NVIDIA L40s with a substantial 48-GB frame buffer. Moreover, GeForce NOW is set to expand further with new data centers planned for India, Thailand, and Vietnam this year to further increase the total addressable audience.
GeForce NOW also democratizes access to AI features across different platforms. You can choose to run AI models in the cloud while rendering the game locally, thereby lowering the GPU requirements needed. Alternatively, both game rendering and AI inference can be handled entirely through GeForce NOW, leveraging its existing user base of gamers.
NVIDIA recently demonstrated AI inferencing running on GeForce NOW while gameplay is rendered on a local PC behind closed doors at GDC. This approach enables games with AI features to reach a wider audience by democratizing these features for all PC gamers, including those with less powerful local hardware. By offloading complex AI calculations to the cloud, you can create more immersive and intelligent game experiences without being limited by the end user’s hardware.
By embracing cloud-based AI inference and using existing infrastructure, you can stay at the forefront of this technological shift, ensuring your games remain competitive and captivating.
Streamline the game preview and review process
Game developers and publishers can use GeForce NOW for previews and reviews with several advantages.
By leveraging the powerful GeForce NOW cloud infrastructure, you can ensure that reviewers experience your games on high-end hardware in the cloud, regardless of the local device. Without the need for large file downloads, this approach avoids device compatibility and storage issues, enabling reviewers to access games easily and quickly.
As a result, you can share your games with a larger pool of reviewers and influencers, or in a controlled environment with your community. This includes those using systems that typically can’t handle graphically demanding games, such as Macs and Chromebooks.
GeForce NOW provides additional features and functionalities useful for developers and publishers, including:
- Security: The highest level of binary encryption, digital watermarking, and secure access level control.
- Scheduling: Publishers can schedule the start and end dates of the review period to fit embargo dates, communicated to targets through automated emails.
- Control: Enables the ability to grant (and revoke) private access to specific reviewer targets without enabling it for all GeForce NOW members.
- Game session insights: Provides detailed session statistics, including usage metrics, error reporting, and replay capabilities.
Additionally, with GeForce NOW, you can manage any game updates and patches from the cloud, enabling reviewers to enjoy the latest build without interruptions. This reduction in technical hurdles can lead to more timely and comprehensive reviews, benefiting both you and your audience.
GeForce NOW and Ubisoft collaborated to provide over 170 press and content creators across North America, Europe, and Japan with prelaunch access to Assassin’s Creed Shadows for reviews. Reviewers benefitted from a seamless and consistent game review experience and accumulated over 3,000 total hours across various devices in a secure and controlled environment.
